The Lead Behavior Technician Regional Trainer provides systems-level leadership, mentorship, and coordination for all Lead BT roles across the different clinics related to Behavior Technician (BT). This position ensures consistency, collaboration, and alignment with organizational values while supporting high-quality training and clinical service delivery in partnership with the clinical team.

Primary Areas of Focus

  • Provide direct observation, mentorship, coaching, and performance feedback to behavior technicians, with an emphasis on professional growth, accountability, and role clarity.
  • Foster strong interpersonal relationships with Lead BTs, Behavior Technicians, clinicians, and operational staff through clear communication, approachability, and consistent follow-through.
  • Coordinate workload balance, role coverage, and cross-regional support across all Lead BTs focused on training needs
  • Partner closely with clinical leadership to ensure training systems align with clinical priorities, ethical standards, and treatment of quality expectations.
  • Support and oversee implementation of clinic- and region-wide initiatives related to technician development, service delivery consistency, and operational efficiency.
  • Model effective team-building practices, including collaborative problem-solving, respectful feedback, and strength-based leadership.
  • Monitor trends in staff performance, retention, and engagement, and proactively communicate insights and recommendations to leadership.
  • Serve as a consistent point of connection across clinics and regions to promote alignment, shared practices, and organizational cohesion.
  • Responsible for modeling and reinforcing safe, ethical, and trauma-informed crisis prevention and response practices in alignment with organizational standards.
  • Support onboarding and ongoing training of new and current BTs in collaboration with onboarding-focused leadership.

Mentorship, Collaboration & Leadership Expectations

  • Demonstrate strong mentorship skills by supporting Lead RBTs in developing leadership confidence, decision-making abilities, and professional identity.
  • Provide timely, constructive, and balanced feedback using a supportive and growth-oriented approach.
  • Promote psychological safety, professionalism, and accountability within Lead BT teams.
  • Model and reinforce the organization’s core values in daily interactions, decision-making, and leadership practices.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams while respecting clinical authority and operational roles.

Cross-Trained Responsibilities

  • Maintain working knowledge of onboarding and training systems, operational workflows, and clinical quality and fidelity processes.
  • Provide backup support across Lead BT functions during periods of high need, staff transitions, or absences.

Regional Travel & Scheduling Flexibility

  • This role supports clinics across Axis' ABA clinics and requires willingness to travel between locations as needed.
  • Flexibility in scheduling is required to meet regional and clinical needs.
  • Travel-related expenses, including mileage and overnight stays when applicable, are reimbursed as aligned with organizational policy.
Billable Expectations: 20 billable hours per week.

Skills & Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED with further education preferred from an accredited educational institution.
  • Must be a Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) or ability to obtain certification within 90 days of hire or promotion.
  • Active CPR and Basic First Aid certifications or able to obtain certifications within 90 days of hire or promotion.
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to and work with diverse backgrounds, human capabilities and limitations, and cultures.
  • Must maintain valid and clear AZ Fingerprint Clearance Card at all times during tenure of employment (Required).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
